Affectations by the coronavirus in the 68 Rally Costa Brava FIA

Barcelona, March 6, 2020.

Following the recommendations of Public Health and the ‘Consell Assessor of the Civil Protection Plan of Catalonia’ (PROCICAT), and following a meeting that has just taken place today at the Generalitat de Catalunya in which Alex Romaní, president of RallyClassics, and the authorities of the Sport General Secretary of the Generalitat, attended the decision to restrict participation in the 68 Rally Costa Brava to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The most important historical motor racing rally in the Spanish state has to be held on March 13 and 14 with the city of Girona as the epicenter. This imposed measure translates into the non-admission of registrants who come from countries that are clearly considered areas of risk of transmission of the virus, thus affecting all Italian teams that had submitted their application for participation.

The global effort that is being made to contain the expansion of the Coronavirus forces the organizer to assume this decision, recommended by the Ministry of Health, as various sports and social events have been applied since the last weeks. In this way the rally can be held, although everything is in expectation of the evolution and the level of risk determined by the health authorities in the coming days.

RallyClassics regrets the inconvenience that this measure required by the health situation may cause in teams, drivers and spectators.
